Principals Mike and Maryanne Donovan worked and traveled extensively in Africa before returning back to Canada to raise a family and build a business . The business was sold , the kids are now adults , and in 2009, the Donovan’s turned their attention back to their favorite continent of Africa to function as a tour operator, catering mainly to North Americans. Mike and Maryanne have a very strong appreciation and love for the African people and their culture, the wildlife, and how things get done in Africa. They created the “Jewels of Africa” list as a short list of the very best places in Africa to focus their tours on. Mike speaks a smattering of Swahili and both he and his wife Maryanne continue to visit Africa periodically in order to maintain their business relationships and stay current with any new developments.

Although our forte are private custom tours for clients at the economy, mid-range, or at the luxury pricing levels,  we also offer African Travel Buddy Tours periodically  for clients who prefer to travel as part of a larger group on a tour with a set itinerary and timeline.
