I remember vividly my flight from Dar es Salaam to Kilimanjaro Airport on Air Tanzania - there was no such thing as a queue - it was a mad dash, and whoever was the fastest runner got on board first! It could be considerably cheaper and more interesting than staying at a hotel. Of course a game safari, Kili Trek, etc could easily be incorporated on a trip based on your preferences and budget.
