Okavango Delta and Linyati Marshes , Victoria Falls,  Zanzibar

Your 21 day/20 night African upper mid-range tour starts  at the Maun  international airport  in the country of Botswana,  and ends at the Dar Es Salaam international airport in the country of Tanzania. The program is diverse an exciting comprising the Okavango Delta and Linyanti Marshes in Botswana, Victoria Falls in Zambia,  and Unguja within the Zanzibar archipeligo.

OKAVANGO DELTA, LINYANTI MARSH PHASE

Okavango Delta

Day 1: Start of program. Arrival into Botswana’s Maun International airport where your party will be picked up by a Lion Dog African Safaris representative holding a name card displaying your last name.  You will then board small plane bound for luxury Kwara Camp in the Kwara private concession located in the Okavango Delta.  Of the 20 or so private concessions, Kwara concession is rated as an “excellent “ concession particularly from July through September when there is still significant flooding and the camps are able to offer a good mix of wet and dry safari.  Day 4: After breakfast, take small plane bound for all-inclusive luxury Lebala Camp  in the Linyati Marshes. This Lebala camp provides a much different environment and experience than the Kwara Camp.

Day5 : Linyati Marshes . Overnight again at Lebala Camp.

Day 6 : Linyati Marshes. Overnight again at Lebala Camp.

VICTORIA FALLS PHASE

Day 7: After breakfast take small plane to Victoria Falls landing at the town of Livingstone in the country of Zambia. Your party will be picked up by our representative and transferred to the Chundukwa Lodge where you will overnight. ( Breakfast and Diner included) located 25km upstream from the Victoria Falls. You will enjoy a Sunset River Cruise on your first evening’s stay

Day 8: A 30 minute Ultra-Light flight over the Falls, a visit to the markets, a packed lunch, and the Lion Encounter are on the schedule today.Lion Encounter.  For the Lion Encounter, guests are greeted by the hospitality team area within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park where a short film and safety briefing are given The lions are already waiting for you in the Bush, and you will join them as they learn about their natural environment, accompanied by our experienced guides, lion handlers and scouts.  Following your walk you will return to our reception area to enjoy some light refreshments on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River.  Day 9 : A Village and School Visit is planned for today followed by an Elephant Back Ride Tour. Upon arrival at the grounds for the Elephant Tour,  the guests will be given a short introductory talk and then are introduced to the Elephants and their handlers. The training techniques used by Zambezi Elephant Trails are based on the “perform and reward “ method as opposed to the controversial “discipline and submission” technique commonly associated with Asian Elephants. On mounting the Elephants, the Safari begins. The trails lead through riverine bush and shallow parts of the Zambezi River onto the islands. Halfway through the ride, guests will dismount and interact with the Elephants on the ground. During interaction, the guide will give an informative talk on the African Elephant and its relationship with man..The Safari ends with a full English Breakfast or good choice of snacks (depending which safari is booked) after which guests may view a video of their personal Elephant experience. Overnight at the luxurious Royal Livingstone Hotel (B&B) within a 5 minute private walk to the Falls.  The Royal Livingstone is right next to the sister hotel Zambezi Sun Resort Hotel which has a casino, and several bars and restaurants.Hippos Bar and Restaurant is a popular night spot for the younger crowd. Located at the back of Faulty Towers on Limulunga Road . Make sure you take a taxi both ways.

 Day 10 : 2 Zip line and 2 Big Air packages (bungi/zip/swing) are on the schedule today. Overnight again at the Royal Livingstone .

 Day 11 : Full day of white water rafting for one , and boarding/white water rafting for 3 is on the schedule today. Overnight again at the Royal Livingstone.

 ZANZIBAR PHASE

Stone Town

Day 12 : Take a flight to capital city of Lusaka, Zambia where you will catch connecting flight via Nairobi ,Kenya to the exotic archipelago of Zanzibar for a few days in Stone Town, a UNESCO historical site on the main island of Unguja . Overnight at upper mid-range Zanzibar Palace Hotel (B&B) .

Day 13 : After lunch , English speaking guide will meet you for half-day City Tour of fascinating Stone Town taking in David Livingstone’s House Of Wonder, the Palace Museum, the National Museum, the Slave Market , the Central Market, and down some winding streets of antique and souvenir shops. Make mental notes of where you might want to return to later to visit . Overnight again Zanzibar Palace Hotel.

Day 14 : Zanzibar is also called the Spice Island. A Spice Tour is scheduled for the first part of the day. The tour consists of visiting a spice plantation where various spices are plucked from the  trees and bushes with explanations given on the spices. Traditional lunch is served and spices are available for purchase. Spend remainder of day discovering the shops and sights, or perhaps a massage or spa experience is to your liking.   Overnight again Zanzibar Palace Hotel.

 Day 15 : Transfer to Nungwi Beach, Unguja’s best beach in both low and high tides. Nungwi beach activities include PADI certified scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, kayak , etc. There is also para-sailing, windsurfing , water skiing and paddle skiing available at another beach. Overnight at upper mid-range Z Hotel Beach Resort (B&B). Arrangements for certain activities can be arranged ahead of time or with front desk of resort.

Zanzibar Beach

  Day 16 : Nungwi Beach . Overnight at Z Hotel Beach resort.

Day 17: Nungwi Beach . Overnight at Z Hotel Beach resort.

Day 18 : Nungwi Beach . Overnight at Z Hotel Beach resort.

Day 19 : Nungwi Beach . Overnight at Z Hotel Beach resort.

Day 20 : Transfer to Zanzibar airport, fly to Dar Es Salaam airport and transfer to Harbour View Hotel .

Day 21 : Dar Es Salaam Escorted City Tour of markets and museums today. Later transfer to airport to catch connecting international flight.
